This week has been crazy so far. Tuesday we headed down to Long Island for Joe's wedding rehearsal and dinner afterwards with family and the bridal party. Much fun; it was great to see old friends from high school, Joe's family and then meeting everyone else. Dinner that night at Sage Bistro in Bellmore was fantastic! Fantastic is the word of the day by the way LOL. So since I love Lobster Bisque I of course had to try it. I still have yet to find a restaurant better than the Chowder Pot, yet this place was still very good. For the entree I went with the Filet Mignon special with sauteed spinach, roasted potato's and a Roquefort Cheese sauce. By the way the Filet was also drizzled with a fig infused Balsamic Vinegar. The whole dish was awesome. For lunch Mike and I even stopped at Legal Seafood for a quick bite. I had a very light dish of roasted sweet potato with a Almond Crusted Grilled Shrimp. Very nice flavor to this dish and I recommend both of these restaurants if you're on Long Island.
Wednesday led us into NYC to pick up the tuxedos and of course we had to stop and get some food as well. Joe, Doug and myself stopped by a little Greek place called Ammos which is across from Grand Central. We decided to get some appetizers; I went with the crispy Calamari, Joe had the fresh Lump Crab Cakes and Doug had the Grilled Tiger Shrimp. Everyone fully enjoyed their apps. For dinner, we had a little bit of everything. Joe went with a not so traditional burger...it was a Lamb Burger with fries, which looked very good. Doug had a more traditional meal and went with the Lamb Chops and I went with the Grilled Salmon over orzo with some julienne vegetables on top. I would have liked the salmon cooked a bit more, but it was still very tasty (thats for you pop). For dessert Joe had some pistachio ice cream, Doug had the sheeps milk cheese cake which our waitress recommended and I had a semolina custard drizzled with an orange honey and some raspberry sorbet. It was a different dish but very good.
As for the title...mexican food really is fantastic. Tonight we had Panchero's which is just great, like always. Erin went with the bowl and I had a burrito this time instead of the bowl. Last day of the work week tomorrow much needed and then the start of a fun filled weekend. Hockey game on Friday night in Plainville; 9pm if you're around come check out the Dragons. Then Saturday starts the crazy 5 week wedding bonanza! Looking forward to everything and can't wait for Joe and Lex's wedding. Oh yeah...and on Tuesday I lost another pound. Down a total of 48 now...a little disappointing since I thought over the weekend that it would be more. Oh well...there is always next week! My goal for the next few weeks (before Mikes wedding on the 15th) is to get down a total of 55 pounds.
Talk to everyone later on, have a great night and a FANTASTIC (word of the day) weekend!
